Industry studies have proven that contractors employing construction schedules enjoy more on-time, on-budget project completions. Put construction scheduling to better use on your projects ─ listen to nationally recognized scheduling experts in this four-part special webinar series. Whether you're just getting started or have been scheduling for several years, this scheduling series covers the basics, best practices, reviews "schedule games" (owners ─ take note) and looks at the two leading Primavera scheduling applications.
The schedule is the key to effective and efficient program and project management. There is no substitute for planning and no more powerful tool in the manager’s planning tool chest than a good schedule. But good scheduling these days cannot be accomplished without a little knowledge. Like almost everything, scheduling has advanced far from its rudimentary, back-of-the-napkin days. Modern scheduling tools are incredibly powerful and useful to the manager who wants to maximize the effectiveness of every dollar invested in a project. But the untrained cannot easily access this power. These informative recorded webinars provide participants with the knowledge needed to unlock the power of CPM scheduling on their projects. Even experienced practitioners will learn things they might not have known.

Project Scheduling in the 21st Century
Recorded Wednesday, November 12, 2008 | Now available on CD!
Listen and come away with a current understanding of modern program and project scheduling. The scheduling world has emerged from its formative years and advanced to middle age. Many of debates that consumed have long since been resolved and lingering questions answered. There is no more powerful or cost effective way to schedule a project than by using Critical Path Method schedules. Bar charts and Gantt charts still have their place, but CPM schedules have proven their value for even the smallest endeavors. With the maturation of scheduling processes, the industry has perfected definitions for the critical path and float and developed successful contract language and administrative procedures of scheduling the project. For experienced professionals, this will be an opportunity to confirm your knowledge of modern scheduling practices and ensure a sound foundation for the subsequent programs in this recorded series.
For those new to CPM scheduling, this webinar will launch the progress of your education and leave you ready to understand and absorb the program that follows.
There is an emerging consensus regarding the best ways to use CPM schedules to manage a project. This previously recorded webinar will present these best practices in an efficient and accessible way, allowing participants to emerge from the program with a firm understanding of how to implement CPM scheduling on their projects successfully and economically. Participants will learn how to manage float, how to identify the critical path, how to use the schedule to manage work and avoid delays, and how to handle controversial issues like early completion schedules and the sequestration of float. They will walk away with a comprehensive checklist for reviewing a schedule, and they will learn how to use a schedule to quickly measure a delay.
The effort involved in developing and maintaining a reasonable schedule throughout a project is substantial, and it is important to do it right. For many of us, it is equally important to be able to debunk a misleading or, at times, fraudulent schedule in resolving disputes. Obtain the peace of mind of knowing your projected milestone completion dates are reasonable and have a high probability of success. Hone your skills in developing or evaluating time impact analyses in pursuing or defending multi-million dollar delay claims.
Primavera has launched Versions 5.0 (P5), 6.0 (P6) and Contractor versions of its scheduling software in the past couple of years that are drastically different from the popular software Primavera 3.0 (P3) and SureTrak. The compatibility of these new versions with P3 poses unique challenges in project controls and forensic schedule analyses. Primavera's plan to phase out P3 also makes it imperative that the mechanics of the new versions be understood and appreciated by the project controls and construction claims community.
Both project controls practitioners and forensic schedule analysts should hear how to attend this webinar presentation to take advantage of the presenters' lessons-learned when they converted to the newest version of Primavera. Included in this presentation will be some definite “do-nots,” some “need to knows” and some things you “wish you had known” before using the software. The presentation will include a discussion of the import and export functions, how the various schedule options influence your completion date and the necessity of documenting your project schedule history.
